Booking has five ready-made designs for everything your customers see. You pick a design for each page type, preview any design on your own site before committing, and can mix designs freely — for example photo tiles for services but a compact list for the booking form.
| Design | Look and feel | Good for |
|---|---|---|
| Photo | Large image tiles with the name and price laid over the picture. A mosaic of big and small tiles. | Visual businesses (salons, spas, studios) where photography sells. Needs good pictures for services, staff and locations. |
| List | A calm, text-first price list with leader lines, grouped by category. Fast to scan. This is the default. | Large menus, clinics, consultants, anyone with many services and little photography. |
| Split | A category menu on the left and rows with a small picture, details and a Book button on the right. | Mid-size catalogues where visitors browse by category. |
| Schedule | Category headings as bars; each service is a row with a duration bar and a Book button. | Businesses where duration matters: treatments, classes, sessions. |
| Ticket | Cards styled like tickets, with the price on a detachable stub. | Events, workshops, packages and anything sold like an experience. |

Photo: image tiles with name and price over the picture.

List: a text-first price list grouped by category.

Split: a category menu on the left, services as rows on the right.

Schedule: category bars, a duration bar and a Book button for each service.

Ticket: ticket-style cards with the price on the stub.
Each public page type has its own design setting, so you can choose the best look for every step of the customer’s journey.
| Setting (Booking Settings → Design) | The page it styles |
|---|---|
| Services listing layout | The page that lists all services, with search and category filter. |
| Service detail layout | One service: description, price, duration, staff, a button to book. |
| Categories layout / Category detail layout | The list of service categories, and the page of a single category. |
| Packages layout / Package detail layout | The list of packages (bundles of services) and one package. |
| Locations layout / Location detail layout | The list of your places, and one location with its services and hours. |
| Providers layout / Provider detail layout | The list of staff members, and one staff member’s profile. |
| Form layout / theme | The booking form itself: the steps a customer goes through. |
| Payment layout | The payment step after the customer chooses to pay online. |
| Confirmation layout | The thank-you screen after a booking. |
| My Booking layout | The customer’s own list of bookings. |
| Staff bookings layout | The staff member’s list of their bookings. |
| Calendar layout | The staff member’s calendar page. |
| Calendar default view | Which calendar view opens first: month, week, day, list or timeline. |
Every layout setting offers the same five choices. If a setting has never been saved, the List design is used.
Keep the journey consistent
It is fine to mix designs, but the list page, the detail page and the form of one journey usually look best in the same or in related designs. For example Photo for the services list and service detail with Split for the form.
Add ?booking_design=photo to the address of any Booking page (use photo, list, split, schedule or ticket). The page is shown in that design for you only; visitors and your saved settings are not affected. This works while you are signed in as someone who can manage Booking settings. Example: https://your-site.com/services?booking_design=ticket.
The booking form guides a customer through Service → Time → Details → Payment → Done. Each design presents the same steps in its own way.

Photo: a large panel next to the steps, with a numbered step marker.

List: a thin step line, the form, and a quiet summary box.

Split: the steps as a vertical list on the left, the form on the right.

Schedule: a progress bar across the top and the summary above the form.

Ticket: numbered circles for the steps and a ticket-style summary.
Each Booking Form you create can also choose where its summary sits and which accent colour it uses. These form options work together with the design.
The same designs style the staff, locations and packages pages. Here are the staff pages in each design:

Photo: portraits as tiles.

List: names with speciality and rating.

Split: a menu and detailed rows.

Schedule: availability at a glance.

Ticket: card with an action stub.
The Booking blocks of the Page Builder have a Layout option. Leave it at Use Booking settings to follow your Design settings, or choose a design for that one block. A landing page can therefore show a Photo services grid while your services page uses List. See Page Builder Components.
| Design | Pictures matter | What to prepare |
|---|---|---|
| Photo | Very much | A landscape picture for every service, a portrait for every staff member and a picture for every location. Without them tiles fall back to a colour panel. |
| Split | Somewhat | A small square picture per service. Without one the row simply shows text. |
| List, Schedule, Ticket | Little | Pictures appear on the detail pages only. |
| Symptom | What to do |
|---|---|
| I changed the design but the public page looks the same | Clear the page cache and hard-refresh your browser. See the Booking FAQ. |
| The preview address shows my old design | Preview works only for signed-in administrators who can manage Booking settings. |
| Tiles in the Photo design look empty | Add pictures to the services, staff and locations. |
| My page-builder block ignores my Design settings | The block has its own Layout set. Change it to Use Booking settings. |
