Point of Sale (POS)

Point of Sale provides the staff-facing checkout for in-person sales using TruCommerce products and configured POS registers.

TruCommerce Point of Sale interface

The POS interface is designed for staff-assisted in-person sales using the commerce catalog.

What this feature is for

Point of Sale is the staff-facing checkout for in-person transactions. It reuses TruCommerce products, stock and order concepts while presenting a faster sales interface for a physical counter or staff-operated sale.

A practical way to use it

  1. Choose the correct POS Register.
  2. Find/add products and confirm quantity/price.
  3. Identify the customer when required by the business process.
  4. Take payment using the supported POS payment flow and complete the sale.
  5. Provide the receipt and confirm the resulting order/stock movement.

How it connects to other features

POS must be enabled in Store Settings. Products can have POS availability, stock rules still apply, and POS receipt phone/address/notes come from POS settings.

What to expect after changes

A completed POS sale is real store activity: it can create an order, reduce stock and record payment. Use partial payment only when that feature is deliberately enabled and staff understand how remaining balances are handled.

Where to find it

Open TruCommerce → POS.

How POS differs from storefront checkout

POS is the staff-assisted sales flow. It uses the same catalog/order foundations but has POS-specific enablement, register, receipt and partial-payment settings. Keep product POS availability enabled only for items staff should be able to sell at the register.

Field and action reference

Use the tables below when you need the exact meaning of a field, column, filter or action. Read the workflow and dependency sections above first so each option is used in the right context.

The POS page exposes Register and Opening Cash inputs plus an Open Session action. POS Registers are managed separately and contain Name, Code, Channel, Receipt Printer, and Enabled fields.

  1. Create and enable an appropriate POS Register.
  2. Open TruCommerce → POS.
  3. Select the register.
  4. Enter Opening Cash.
  5. Choose Open Session.
  6. Use the POS operational screen to process store activity for that session.
