TruCommerce Overview

TruCommerce manages the complete online-store workflow from catalog setup and stock through cart, checkout, payment, fulfilment, customer account, and reporting.

TruCommerce dashboard in TruCMS

The store dashboard summarizes commerce activity and links the configuration, catalog and order-management workflow together.

What this feature is for

TruCommerce is the store workflow from catalogue setup through checkout and fulfilment. The most reliable setup order is to define store policy/geography first, then product structure, then products/stock, then checkout and order operations.

Store Settings Geography + Tax + Shipping Catalog Structure Products + Stock Cart / Payment Orders / Fulfilment

A practical way to use it

  1. Configure Store Settings, especially currency/selling locations, taxes, shipping, inventory and checkout.
  2. Prepare Countries/Provinces and build shipping/tax Zones.
  3. Create Tax Categories/Rates and Carriers/Shipping Methods.
  4. Create catalog structure—taxonomies, categories, tags and attributes.
  5. Create Products and stock rules.
  6. Configure TruPayments methods, then test cart/checkout for representative locations.
  7. Train staff on Orders, stock and POS before opening the storefront.

How it connects to other features

TruPayments supplies checkout payment methods. Geographic Zones affect shipping/tax matching. Global Store Settings can change how individual product configuration is interpreted, especially tax, inventory, reviews and checkout behavior.

What to expect after changes

Store configuration is highly connected. A “missing shipping option” can be caused by the customer address, shipping zone, method zone assignment, method status or product/cart conditions. Diagnose from the customer’s address/cart backward through those layers instead of changing unrelated product data.

Commerce workflow

Administrator configures store/tax/shipping/payment rules → creates catalog structure and Products → customer browses the storefront → adds items/variations to Cart → Checkout recalculates discounts, shipping, tax and eligible payment methods → order is created/paid → staff manage fulfilment and stock → customer reviews history/tracking from the account experience.

  1. Configure Store Settings for store availability, base location, selling/shipping locations, currency, tax/coupon behavior, inventory, reviews, checkout, account, and POS defaults.
  2. If shipping/tax rules depend on geography, confirm Countries & Provinces and create the required Zones.
  3. Create Tax Categories/Rates and Carriers/Shipping Methods before product testing when the store uses them.
  4. Create reusable Categories, Tags and Attributes, then create Products.
  5. Configure TruPayments so checkout has at least one eligible payment method.
  6. Assign optional Shop/Cart/Checkout/Account/History/Tracking CMS Pages in Core Settings → Page Setup if you are replacing the built-in destinations.
  7. Run a full test through Storefront, Cart & Checkout, payment, Order administration, stock movement, and customer account before launch.

Orders, payments, and stock are separate concerns

An Order is the commercial/fulfilment record. TruPayments is the financial transaction record. Stock records inventory availability/movement. They interact, but staff should troubleshoot each in the area that owns it rather than forcing one status to compensate for another.

Test with realistic addresses

Shipping, tax, and payment availability can all change after a customer provides an address. Use test addresses inside and outside your intended Zones/Billing Zones so you understand what customers in each market will see.

Showing your shop on your site

Your shop can be presented in three ways, and you can combine them:

Keep the scheduler running

The shop releases held stock and expires unfinished checkouts every 15 minutes, and refreshes caches and picture sizes each night. See Scheduled Tasks.
