Use diagnostic and maintenance actions carefully, especially Debug Mode and Local Disk storage-link repair.

Advanced settings contain maintenance-oriented controls that can affect application behavior and should be changed carefully.
Advanced settings are not normal content controls. They change diagnostic behavior or run maintenance actions that affect the whole application. Use them when you have a specific reason, and test the site afterward.
| Control | What it does | When to use it |
|---|---|---|
| Adblock Detection | Enables the site's ad-blocker detection behavior. | Only when the site relies on advertising enough to justify interrupting visitors who block ads. |
| Debug Mode | Shows additional diagnostic information when an error occurs. | Temporarily while diagnosing a problem; disable again immediately afterward. |
| Optimize Application | Clears and regenerates the application's optimized caches. | After configuration/deployment changes when your host/support instructions specifically call for an optimization refresh. |
| Link Storage | Repairs/creates the public link used to expose files stored on the Local public disk. | When Local Disk uploads exist but their public URLs return missing/not-found errors. |
| Temporary Files | Clears TruCMS temporary application files. | When troubleshooting stale temporary output or reclaiming temporary storage; do not use as a substitute for normal media cleanup. |
Debug Mode is for short troubleshooting sessions only
On a production site, diagnostic error details can reveal information that ordinary visitors should never see. Turn it off as soon as the issue has been investigated.
Link Storage matters when Uploading → Public Uploads Disk is set to Local Disk. It makes the application's public media storage reachable through the website. If you use Amazon S3 or Wasabi for new public uploads, those remote files do not depend on this local link.
Optimization rebuilds cached application bootstrap/configuration information. It is most useful after an update, deployment, or settings/environment change when the application appears to be using older configuration.
Do not run it repeatedly as a performance button. If a page is showing stale public content, use the Cache page's Clear Cache control instead.
Temporary Files removes disposable application files created during normal operation. This is different from deleting uploaded media, products, pages, or other content. If disk usage continues to grow immediately after cleanup, investigate the feature creating the files rather than scheduling frequent manual deletions.
