Page Setup Settings

Choose which CMS Pages act as TruCMS’s main public destinations, including your homepage and the customer-facing pages used by TruCommerce and Booking.

Page Setup settings in TruCMS

Page Setup connects important site destinations to the pages TruCMS should use for those purposes.

What Page Setup controls

TruCMS has two kinds of public pages. Some are ordinary CMS Pages that you create and design yourself. Others are built-in application screens, such as the TruCommerce cart or the Booking form. Page Setup connects those two systems.

For the core website, the selected Page becomes the site’s Homepage, Contact Page, or Blog Page. For Booking and TruCommerce, selecting a custom Page replaces the module’s normal public destination with that Page. This is useful when you want the module workflow to sit inside a page you have designed with your own layout, text, banners, or surrounding content.

Changing a page assignment changes a public destination.

Existing menu links, buttons, bookmarks, or campaign links may lead visitors somewhere different after the change. Review the affected customer journey after saving.

Where to find it

Open Settings → Page Setup. The available groups depend on the modules that are installed and active.

Before assigning a custom page

  1. Create the Page first. Open Pages, create the page you want to use, and make sure it is published and accessible to the intended visitors.
  2. Add the feature content that belongs on that page. For example, a custom TruCommerce Cart page should contain the Cart element/shortcode, and a custom Checkout page should contain the Checkout element/shortcode. Booking also provides page-builder elements for customer-facing booking content.
  3. Assign the Page here. Return to Page Setup and select the Page beside the matching destination.
  4. Save and test the complete journey. Open the public site in a private/incognito window and follow the same path a visitor would take.

Keep special-purpose pages focused.

A checkout, booking, account, or tracking page should make the main task obvious. Avoid surrounding the workflow with unrelated content that could distract visitors.

Core website pages

These assignments define the primary pages used by the main TruCMS website. They are required parts of the site structure rather than optional module replacements.

SettingWhat to selectWhat visitors experience
HomepageAn existing published CMS Page. The selected Page becomes the main page visitors reach at the website’s root address.
Contact PageThe CMS Page that contains your contact information or contact experience.TruCMS uses this Page as the site’s designated contact destination.
Blog PageThe CMS Page intended to represent your blog/news area.TruCMS uses this Page as the designated blog destination.

Because these pages can also appear in menus, headers, footers, buttons, and theme sections, review those areas if you replace an established page with a different one.

TruCommerce page assignments

TruCommerce already provides built-in storefront screens. The Page Setup fields below are optional replacements. Leaving a field empty keeps the built-in TruCommerce page. Selecting a Page makes the normal module destination redirect visitors to your chosen CMS Page.

SettingRecommended useEffect
Shop pageSelect a published Page designed as the main storefront landing page. The normal Shop destination sends visitors to the selected Page. Use this when you want a custom shop landing layout rather than the built-in shop page.
Cart pageSelect a Page that contains the TruCommerce Cart element/shortcode.The selected Page becomes the customer’s cart destination. If the cart content is missing, customers can reach the page without seeing the working cart interface.
Checkout pageSelect a Page that contains the TruCommerce Checkout element/shortcode.The selected Page becomes the checkout destination used to collect order, shipping, tax, and payment information.
My Account pageSelect a Page intended to host the customer account experience.Customers are directed to the selected Page instead of the built-in account landing page.
Order History pageSelect a Page intended for signed-in customers reviewing past orders. The selected Page replaces the built-in order-history destination.
Order Tracking pageSelect a Page intended for the public order-tracking workflow. The selected Page replaces the built-in order-tracking destination.

Page Setup changes presentation, not commerce rules.

Products, taxes, shipping methods, promotions, and payment methods are still configured in TruCommerce and TruPayments. A custom Page changes where the workflow is presented; it does not replace the underlying store configuration.

Booking page assignments

Booking also includes built-in public screens. These settings let you place those experiences on CMS Pages that match the rest of your website design. Leave an assignment empty when you want to keep Booking’s built-in destination.

SettingPurposeWhat changes when assigned
Booking pageThe main customer booking-form destination.Visitors opening the normal Booking form destination are sent to the selected CMS Page.
Booking Services pageA page for browsing available services. The selected Page replaces Booking’s built-in services destination.
My Booking pageThe signed-in customer area for reviewing bookings. The selected Page replaces the built-in My Booking destination.
Booking Calendar pageThe calendar destination used by the staff/provider workflow. The selected Page replaces the built-in Booking calendar destination.
Booking Providers pageA public page for provider listings. The selected Page replaces the built-in provider-listing destination.
Booking Staff pageThe staff/provider cabinet landing destination. The selected Page replaces the built-in staff destination for users who have access to that workflow.
Booking Customer Profile pageThe customer profile destination used by Booking. The selected Page replaces the built-in Booking customer-profile destination.

Which Booking elements you place on a custom Page depends on the purpose of that Page. For example, the main booking page should present the booking form, while a services page should present service browsing. See Page Builder and the Booking Customer Workflow when designing these pages.

A safe workflow for changing an existing site

  1. Create and publish the replacement Page without changing Page Setup yet.
  2. Preview the Page and confirm its module content works.
  3. Assign only one destination at a time and click Save Changes.
  4. Test menus, buttons, account links, cart/checkout links, and booking links that lead to that destination.
  5. Once the new destination works, update any manually entered menu or campaign links that still point to an older page.

Common problems

SymptomWhat to check
The selected page opens, but the expected cart, checkout, or booking interface is missing.Edit the CMS Page and confirm it contains the correct module element/shortcode for that job.
A menu still opens an old page.Menus can contain manually selected Pages or links. Review Menus after changing an important page assignment.
A module page changed unexpectedly after saving.Return to Page Setup and check whether a custom Page is selected. Clear the optional assignment to return to the module’s built-in destination.
Customers cannot use a page that staff can preview.Check that the Page is published and that the visitor has any account/permission required by that workflow, such as customer account or staff-cabinet access.
