Upload, extract, and point the site to the public directory.

Upload and extract TruCMS

Upload the TruCMS package using your hosting file manager, SFTP or another trusted deployment method, then extract it into the directory intended for the application. Keep the original package outside the public web directory after extraction if your hosting setup allows it.

  1. Upload the TruCMS package to the server.
  2. Extract the package into the application directory.
  3. Point the domain's document root to the extracted public directory.
  4. Apply the writable-directory requirements from System Requirements.
  5. Open the site URL to start the built-in installer.

What you should see

An uninstalled copy of TruCMS should lead you into the installation wizard. If you see a raw directory listing, a server default page, or files that should not be public, stop and correct the document root before continuing.

Do not expose the project root

The browser-facing document root should be TruCMS's public directory. This is a security and deployment requirement, not merely a preferred folder layout.

After the upload

Continue to Installer Overview. The first installer step checks the environment you prepared before asking for purchase verification or application details.
